Story Book Meadows is a faith-based ranch partnering with horses as teachers and healers. An experiential learning process called Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) allows people of all ages and abilities to gain a better understanding of how their beliefs, thoughts and behaviours are creating their life. While engaging with horses, experiential learning teaches important life skills and relational skills thereby increasing self-awareness and emotional intelligence. With the help of the horses our process of Core Energy Coaching encourages you to identify the issues blocking you from creating the life you envision for yourself so you can achieve your dreams & goals.

Whether it’s a personal or professional goal you are trying to achieve; improved family dynamics; or building leaders & teams within your business; our programs will bring about a deeper awareness of how change and growth will contribute to achieving those personal and professional goals. You will learn that your past experiences don’t have to dictate your future and that healing and hope is a choice. At our tranquil ranch setting, clients will experience the transformative powers of horses while learning experientially.

All of the activities are on the ground and no previous horse experience is required. Equine Assisted Learning does not teach horsemanship!

What is Experiential Learning? According to the Association of Experiential Education (1995), experiential learning can best be described as learning through doing. Experiences like this have “the ability to inform us not only cognitively but also physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It engages the whole person. This is transformative capability”. (Deb Piranian www.aee.org)

What is Emotional Intelligence? Emotional Intelligence can be defined as your ability to distinguish, understand, and have a greater awareness of how your thoughts and feelings connect with your outward displays and behaviours, as well as the ability to manage and express appropriate emotions and help others do the same. Increasing Emotional Intelligence will have a significant impact on all aspects of your life including decreasing stress, enhancing interpersonal relationships and demonstrating greater leadership and decision-making skills.

    How do horses help people?…

Horses are prey animals and as such are hyper vigilant toward their environment and their safety. This hyper vigilance translates into their ability to sense and tune into non-verbal communication. They are able to sense the emotions and intentions that are hidden in non-verbal communication and the energy these emotions carry. Even though horses have been domesticated for centuries, this characteristic remains finely tuned in their DNA. Horses therefore reflect back to people what is happening to them in terms of their internal emotional and psychological selves. As a result, horses can help identify and explore feelings that were previously unknown or unacknowledged giving you an opportunity to visually see your own emotions and choose how to respond. With the help of the horses, you will discover the unconscious reasons you think and act the way you do and bring them into the light in a gentle and effective exploration of your inner self.

The fact that horses are big and powerful creates a natural opportunity for you to overcome fear and develop self-confidence. Horses have unique personalities, moods, and attitudes, which are perfectly suitable to metaphorical learning. This suggests that you can take your experience with the horse and apply this to a variety of different situations in your life.

Horses never question who they are. Each horse has a trust and a belief in themselves because they do not have an emotional component mentally second guessing themselves and holding them back. In a non-threatening and fun environment deep insights can be learned about your perception of yourself, others and God.

‚ÄúThe horse shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the sense we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear.” – Henry Beston
